About

The title of this blog comes from the prayer journal of author, Flannery O’Connor:

Dear god, I cannot love thee the way I want to.  You are the slim crescent of a moon that I see and my self is the earth’s shadow that keeps me from seeing all the moon.  The crescent is very beautiful and perhaps that is all one like I am should or could see; but what I am afraid of, dear God, is that my self shadow will grow so large that it blocks the whole moon, and that I will judge myself by the shadow that is nothing.

My name is Jess.
I come from the West.
Now I live in the East.
Coast that is.

All my life I have loved God and been naturally drawn to all things spiritual.  Apparently, once when I was four years old, I told my mother I was going to become a Buddhist nun despite not being anyway affiliated with that religion – being a wise mother however, she let me be to figure things out on my own.

Like most recently graduated twenty-somethings, life right now is figuring out who we are, where we are going, and what our purpose is.  But spirituality cannot be a separate task we set aside to do later  – the spiritual happens now, for every act of life is, in the end, a spiritual act.

This blog is made with humble intentions of just examining and pondering the mysteries of the world.  For myself, I only hope to form a more conscious mind, imbued with God’s love, peace, and joy.

I may be walking my own spiritual road, but so are you! No matter what kind of path you are on, religious, a-religious, spiritual, seeking, blasé, you’re still on a path!   I would love to hear from anyone who wishes to share their thoughts on God, spirituality, religion, etc.  Dissenting views? no problem – I love to hear all sides of an argument, and hope we can all strive to be respectful and open minded to all opinions shared and posted.  Please be sure to visit the site’s Disclaimer as well.
